PaddleH2O’s 2-day Outdoors First Aid course covers a detailed and comprehensive range of First Aid emergencies, that will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to deal injury and illness in a prompt, safe and effective way, particularly where professional medical help is not immediately available. This is an open course, available to anyone with an interest in first aid, particularly in the outdoors or remote areas. No prior first aid knowledge is necessary, and we blend our teaching style with a good mix of theory and practical sessions to ensure that all our learners leave feeling confident to tackle emergency situations head-on.
You will be taught by a highly experienced medic who has over two decades both as a provider of emergency healthcare in remote and hostile environments and who has trained other medics in healthcare from first aid through to Advanced Trauma Life Support, so you can leave and operate safe in the knowledge that you have been trained by someone who has real-world experience and has passed that on to you. We believe in the value of immersive simulation, so we use this valuable approach to training to offer you the best course on the market.
This 16 hour course is the UK standard for anyone operating in an outdoors environment, or for individuals that spend time in remote locations. It meets the requirements of UK outdoors NGBs for instructors, coaches and leaders, as set out by Mountain Training, PaddleUK, RYA and other awarding bodies, including Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards, as well as teachers supporting students in the outdoors, or for anyone looking to further their understanding of first aid,
A range of outdoor First Aid related subjects are covered including:
The course is both summatively and formatively assessed by continual observation of candidate performance. Upon successful completion you will receive the following FAA Level 3 Awards (both valid for 3 years):
